Babbo Collective

It is almost as if the east side of Oslo established a free state, in the middle of a conservative neighborhood, which welcomes everyone.

Babbo Collective is a small group of good people who previously served breakfast and dinner at Hotel Guldsmeden. Now they have a restaurant at Frysja, a bakery outlet and pizzeria also at Frysja. They also have a Babbo in Berlin. And now a corner at the end of Parkveien.

It is impressive that such a small group has so many balls in the air. It’s fogging up the windows. Music plays from the CD player. It plays yacht rock. There are regular customers, already. It is cramped and noisy. But so incredibly friendly, in that way where you don’t get any choice. Chairs are brought in and wine is served to anyone who wants it.

It gets tighter and nicer the further into the evening you arrive.

Håndbakt Oslo

Håndbakt Oslo is the next generation artisanal bakery. Focus on organic raw materials. They serve brunch during the day and pizza with wine in the evening.

Here, plant-based, organic and biodynamic raw materials are a matter of course. Håndbakt is owned and run by Jenny Marie El-Kadiri Andersen, who is passionate about food – both when it comes to the sustainability perspective, but not least taste and quality.

With a Danish and Algerian background, she brings exciting dishes to the menu. Jenny wants to break the many myths that plant-based baking does not taste good. Because it is possible to make the most delicious plant-based dishes that are also a little better for the stomach, heart and soul.

The focus is on being sustainable at all stages, both in terms of ecology and short-travel products, but also in terms of personnel and the working environment. We cheer for that!!

Skjennumstuga

Skjennungstua is a private restaurant centrally located between Sognsvann and Frognerseteren in the southern part of Nordmarka.

Skjennungstua was completed in December 1910 as the first pure field house. The site was built by the Ski Association, but in 1952 it was sold to the Gudbrandslaget. They owned the place until 1994, when Hanne and Bjørn took over. New owners took over the place from January 7th 2011, and the living room is now run by Martinussen.

Skjennungstua is conveniently located whether you come from Frognersereren or Sognsvann. You get the feeling of being deep in the wilderness even though you are not that many kilometers from the city and noise.
